How It Works

Develop the ability to redirect a crosscourt ball down the line with proper footwork and swing adjustment.

Mindset Rep
Lock-In Rep

Pick one detail to watch before the rep starts. Run the rep without adding a second focus.

Your Focus

Changing direction from crosscourt to down-the-line is one of the most tactically important skills in rallying, requiring both footwork and racket-face adjustment.

1
Set Up

Coach feeds a deep crosscourt ball to your forehand.

2
Run The Rep
A.
Take the ball early (inside the baseline if possible) and redirects it down the line to the opposite corner.
B.
After the down-the-line shot, player recovers to center and prepares for the next feed.
3
Check It

Open your hips to aim down the line

Goal

Success is landing 3 down-the-line balls in a row after feeding from crosscourt, your feet and swing adjust before the ball gets there.

Helpful Cues
Open your hips to aim down the lineContact the ball slightly in front for inside-out directionWatch the ball, then decide to redirect

Partner knows you will go down the line and defends it; player must add pace or angle to win the point.

UpLVL Assessment
6 session notes and 5 skills interpreted for Reese's development
UpLVL
Reese looked more composed between shots, and Tactics & Point Construction and Net Game are starting to show up in the moments that matter. Those strengths are giving Reese more control in games, which is translating into stronger point construction, steadier tempo, and more reliable execution under pressure. Reese is in the standout range, with Tactics & Point Construction is leading the way, and Groundstrokes has made the biggest recent jump. Because Reese has been moving in the right direction, the next push is Groundstrokes and Serve, especially as the pace rises and decisions have to happen faster. If that work keeps moving toward the current strengths, Reese's game should feel more complete, more balanced, and more repeatable from one session to the next. That next step should also keep shooting and decision-making in view, so the work reflects what is showing up in play as well as the ratings.
Guide
How To Read The Ratings

Each skill gets a 1-10 rating that maps to a milestone, helping track skill development and player growth over time.

Skill Milestones

Milestones show progress in a specific skill. Players usually move through milestones with age, practice, and better game understanding.

Overall Development Stage

Stages describe the player's broader development level. They are based on the overall rating, which averages the skill ratings in the report.

A player can be at different milestones in different skills while still having one overall stage for the report. The value is seeing what changed from one evaluation to the next.

Latest Session Note
Coach JordanMar 31
Rating 8.2
Reese looked more composed between shots. Tactics & Point Construction and Net Game were the clearest separators in this session and created more control in the game. The next push is Groundstrokes and Serve so that level holds when the pace lifts, the decisions get tighter, and the game becomes less forgiving.
