Maya needs to keep building ball control so touches stay clean when pressure arrives. The next step is using that control to escape defenders and make the next play sooner.

How It Works

Receive passes and use a controlled first touch to move the ball through a cone gate.

What You Need
conessoccer ball
Mindset Rep
Relax to Control

Tension is the enemy of feel. Breathe out, stay loose, and let the ball come to you.

Your Focus

Directing the first touch into open space is essential for ball control in match situations.

1
Set Up

Set up pairs of cones as gates, 1 yard wide, scattered around a 15x15 yard area.

2
Run The Rep
A.
You work in pairs, one passer, one receiver.
B.
Passer plays the ball to receiver from 8 yards; receiver must first-touch the ball through a gate.
C.
Receiver dribbles back, passes to partner, and roles switch.
D.
Score a point for every gate the first touch goes through.
3
Check It

Open your body to the pass before it arrives

Goal

Success is a first touch that rolls through the gate cleanly, not one that needs a second touch to fix.

Helpful Cues
Open your body to the pass before it arrivesTouch the ball to space, not under your feetInside of foot for accuracy, laces to go farther
UPLVL IT

Passer can choose the pace and direction, receiver must adjust in real time.

UpLVL Assessment
6 session notes and 8 skills interpreted for Maya's development
UpLVL
Maya looked sharp in the flow of play, and Movement & Off-Ball and Clearing are starting to show up in the moments that matter. Those strengths are giving Maya more control in games, which supports cleaner possession, better tempo, and more dependable decisions over the course of a match. Maya is in the standout range, with Movement & Off-Ball is leading the way, and Ball Control has made the biggest recent jump. Because Maya has been moving in the right direction, the next push is Ball Control and Weak Foot, especially as the pace rises and decisions have to happen faster. If that work keeps moving toward the current strengths, Maya's game should feel more complete, more balanced, and more repeatable from one session to the next. That next step should also keep decision-making in view, so the work reflects what is showing up in play as well as the ratings.
Guide
How To Read The Ratings

Each skill gets a 1-10 rating that maps to a milestone, helping track skill development and player growth over time.

Skill Milestones

Milestones show progress in a specific skill. Players usually move through milestones with age, practice, and better game understanding.

Overall Development Stage

Stages describe the player's broader development level. They are based on the overall rating, which averages the skill ratings in the report.

A player can be at different milestones in different skills while still having one overall stage for the report. The value is seeing what changed from one evaluation to the next.

Hover or tap any stage or milestone below for the parent-facing meaning.

Latest Session Note
Coach RileyMar 31
Rating 8.4
Maya looked sharp in the flow of play. Movement & Off-Ball and Clearing were the clearest separators in this session and created more control in the game. The next push is Ball Control and Weak Foot so that level holds when the pace lifts, the decisions get tighter, and the game becomes less forgiving.
