How It Works

Build advanced puck handling at game speed by executing a series of deking moves through a structured circuit.

What You Need
hockey stickpuckconesice
Mindset Rep
Calm Hands, Bold Mind

When you trust your touch, your confidence shows — make each move with conviction, not caution.

Your Focus

Deking requires precise coordination between skating edge changes and puck movement — the blade must shift the puck in sync with the body move to sell the fake.

1
Set Up

Set up a circuit: (a) forehand-to-backhand deke through two cones, (b) tight inside turn with puck on backhand, (c) speed move straight-line to a defender dummy.

2
Run The Rep
A.
Complete all three elements back to back.
B.
Finish with a shot on net after the speed move.
3
Check It

Sell the move with your shoulders before your hands

Goal

Success is executing each deke move in the circuit cleanly enough that a real defender would be faked out, no telegraphing, no hesitation.

Helpful Cues
Sell the move with your shoulders before your handsThe puck follows the body, commit the body firstThrough the deke, your eyes must go to the net, not the puck
UPLVL IT

Add a live defender at the final station who reacts to the speed move in real time.

UpLVL Assessment
6 session notes and 8 skills interpreted for Finn's development
UpLVL
Finn looked more connected shift to shift, and Skating and Defense are starting to show up in the moments that matter. Those strengths are giving Finn more control in games, which is helping her skate into better positions, make stronger reads, and execute more reliably under pressure. Finn is in the standout range, with Skating is leading the way. Because Finn has been moving in the right direction, the next push is Puck Handling and Passing, especially as the pace rises and decisions have to happen faster. If that work keeps moving toward the current strengths, Finn's game should feel more complete, more balanced, and more repeatable from one session to the next. That next step should also keep decision-making in view, so the work reflects what is showing up in play as well as the ratings.
Guide
How To Read The Ratings

Each skill gets a 1-10 rating that maps to a milestone, helping track skill development and player growth over time.

Skill Milestones

Milestones show progress in a specific skill. Players usually move through milestones with age, practice, and better game understanding.

Overall Development Stage

Stages describe the player's broader development level. They are based on the overall rating, which averages the skill ratings in the report.

A player can be at different milestones in different skills while still having one overall stage for the report. The value is seeing what changed from one evaluation to the next.

Hover or tap any stage or milestone below for the parent-facing meaning.

Latest Session Note
Coach BlakeMar 31
Rating 8.1
Finn looked more connected shift to shift. Skating and Defense were the clearest separators in this session and created more control in the game. The next push is Puck Handling and Passing so that level holds when the pace lifts, the decisions get tighter, and the game becomes less forgiving.
