Lena needs to keep developing passing so this part of the game becomes more consistent under pressure. The next step is cleaner reps that hold up at game speed.

How It Works

Build correct overhead passing (setting) technique through a four-stage progression from stationary to moving contact.

What You Need
volleyballnet
Mindset Rep
Early Read Rep

Scan before the ball or pressure arrives. Name the best option early.

Your Focus

The overhead pass requires coordinated finger shape, wrist extension, and leg drive that must be learned in sequence.

1
Set Up

Stage 1, Wall shadow: player holds ball overhead in setting window (forehead height, triangular finger frame), extends arms to push ball 1 inch, catches it. Repeat 20 times.

2
Run The Rep
A.
Stage 2, Self-toss set: player tosses ball to themselves and sets it back up 5 feet, letting it drop and re-catch. Repeat 15 times.
B.
Stage 3, Partner set: 8 feet apart, set back and forth without letting ball drop. Goal: 10 consecutive sets.
3
Check It

Window frame with your fingers, see through the triangle

Goal

Success is clean hand contact that feels like a catch and release, not a slap, not a push, just a smooth touch up.

Helpful Cues
Window frame with your fingers, see through the triangleUse your legs, push the floor to push the ballContact is at forehead, not nose or chest
UPLVL IT

Add a third player so the overhead passer must redirect the ball to a target setter position rather than back to the original passer.

UpLVL Assessment
6 session notes and 4 skills interpreted for Lena's development
UpLVL
Lena looked more composed in the flow of play, and Serving and Defense are starting to show up in the moments that matter. Those strengths are giving Lena more control in games, which is helping her play with more control, better timing, and more reliable execution in live situations. Lena is in the competitive range, with Serving is leading the way, and Passing has made the biggest recent jump. Because Lena has been moving in the right direction, the next push is Passing and Attacking, especially as the pace rises and decisions have to happen faster. If that work keeps moving toward the current strengths, Lena's game should feel more complete, more balanced, and more repeatable from one session to the next. That next step should also keep decision-making in view, so the work reflects what is showing up in play as well as the ratings.
Guide
How To Read The Ratings

Each skill gets a 1-10 rating that maps to a milestone, helping track skill development and player growth over time.

Skill Milestones

Milestones show progress in a specific skill. Players usually move through milestones with age, practice, and better game understanding.

Overall Development Stage

Stages describe the player's broader development level. They are based on the overall rating, which averages the skill ratings in the report.

A player can be at different milestones in different skills while still having one overall stage for the report. The value is seeing what changed from one evaluation to the next.

Hover or tap any stage or milestone below for the parent-facing meaning.

Latest Session Note
Coach MorganMar 31
Rating 7.6
Lena looked more composed in the flow of play. Serving and Defense were the clearest separators in this session and created more control in the game. The next push is Passing and Attacking so that level holds when the pace lifts, the decisions get tighter, and the game becomes less forgiving.
